Likes: |
Fuan, his family, the other four servants of Fate. Walking.
Butterflies and songbirds. The pavilion at Turtle House, jasmine
tea, fox pups, and French fries. |

|
Dislikes: |
Disruptions of destiny. Being unable to affect, prevent or
foresee the actions of entities outside of Fate's dominion. Sea
urchin roe, certain pungent medicinal herbs, automobiles, and modern
clothes… He also doesn't see the point of television, though he's
rather taken with the idea of radios. |

Relationships: |
In spite of Fate's desire for her servants to remain
unencumbered by mortal affections, Jen is very devoted to both Fuan
and his family. He's defied his patron more than once on their
behalves.
Jen is Harumatsu's twin, Chidori's brother, Fuan's
companion, and uncle to Koza, Kiji and Ryuko. |

The Details: |
Jen is one of five endlessly-reincarnated mortals bound in the
service of Fate. Like all of Fate's agents, he has the ability to
perceive the weave of destiny and to manipulate the individual
threads of cause and effect that make up the tapestry of reality
underlying Creation.
Generally a calm, gracious and
well-spoken man, Jen can be a little prone to pretension, and he's
apt to forget that others don't have multiple lifetimes of
experience to draw on, or the ability to read the potential future
outcomes of their actions. He's also disastrously near-sighted…
as blind as a proverbial bat… though he never mentions the condition
or complains about it. Following the tapestry's threads allows him
to navigate well enough that strangers rarely notice anything
unusual, though he does have to move very carefully and very slowly
through crowded or unfamiliar areas.
On those rare occasions
when he has to fight, Jen uses Silk Cutter, a Chinese straight-sword
with a dulled blade. Being hit with this sword is no more
damaging than being hit with a blunt staff, but Silk Cutter was
never intended to cause physical injury. It was designed to sever
the threads of an opponent's destiny, effectively removing them from
reality and rendering them incapable of affecting the world.
He has a small, black, jewel-eyed pattern spider as a
familiar and helper; C13-Q-21/a, whose original function was to
repair threads tangled by its own master's existence.
